Fs2004 Ware Ground Textures For Fsx

4/29/2018by

I am learning to fly Instrument, and am an avid gamer to begin with. Though currently enrolled in real life instrument ground and flight courses. I want to put FSX to good use for practice (considering I can). However, having a beasty computer I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some HD ground textures.

Specifically to enhance the Salt Lake City area if possible. Epsxe Netplay Games here. I have done some searching but, I am rather new to this whole sim thing and don't really know where to begin trying to find what I am looking for. Empires Dawn Modern World Patch 1.3. As it is right now I can run FSX at 60+ FPS with my rig, but I am looking to sparkle up the ground and buildings a bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm not sure why you gave him a link to the Tropics/Pacific version of GEX, as it won't enhance SLC in the slightest.

You can go one of two routes to enhance scenery, and it all depends on what YOU prefer to fly over. 1) Photoscenery - Photoscenery is like baking a satellite image over the terrain in FSX. While you get the accuracy that is afforded by photoscenery, you will more often than not lose any 3D buildings and terrain features like trees. 2) Landclass based Scenery - Landclass based scenery, such as Orbx and Ground Environment X (GEX), use the landclass system within FSX to denote where a specific type of scenery tile is placed. To be more specific, a file says what type of scenery is appropriate for an area, such as urban buildings, farm, forest, and FSX uses a pre-determined scenery texture in that place. If autogen is also called for, such as buildings, trees, etc., then that is also placed in that tile. As for options for the two differrent types of scenery enhancements, mrzippy mentioned blueskyscenery.com which is a good freeware site that may have scenery that suits your need for SLC scenery (I cannot get there from work, so I do not know).

You can also search the file database here at flightsim.com for SLC or Utah scenery as well, but make sure it is compatible with FSX. If you want to go the photoscenery route, you could try MegasceneryX (located here: ), which may have some photoscenery of Utah and SLC. If you want to go the landclass based approach, your best bet right now for SLC is Ground Environment X (GEX) and Ultimate Terrain X (UTX) (available as direct download from here: ). UTX enhances the landclass tiles, roads, bridges, etc.

While GEX enhances the landclass textures themselves. Coming on the horizon is a global scenery enhancement from Orbx, the best FSX and P3D scenery designers IMHO, that replaces all of the landclass textures world-wide, but relies on vanilla-FSX or third-party (such as UTX) landclass enhancement for accuracy.
