Last year on vacation we spotted The Disney Theme Park Edition Monopoly game at the coffee shop in Hollywood Studios. The Vanishing Of Ethan Update 4.

Our family loves to play board games and Monopoly is one that the whole family enjoys. Disney is our favorite vacation spot, so we chose the Disney Theme Park Edition III as a souvenir to remind us of our happiest place on earth.

There are more than 7 versions of Disney Monopoly, but this particular board is an authentic original Disney Parks. If you missed it or don’t want to transport it home, it can be purchased online for around $42. It seems expensive for a Monopoly game, even more than other Disney versions, so we consider this our souvenir.

One of the most unique things about this version is the paper pop-up castle in the center of the board. The Walt Disney World castle is tall and majestic and gets a lot of wows from the players. It pops up itself simply by unfolding the board; there’s nothing to build.

Unfortunately the castle is so tall and wide that it blocks the entire view of the other side of the game board. Another issue is the game board never sits perfectly flat on the table because of the design. The player on the opposite side will most likely have to move the opponent’s token. The castle is permanently attached and cannot be removed.

It’s also just made of paper so could be damaged easily. There is a Partners Statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse to place in front of the castle that adds the finishing touches. The unique pop-up castle and Walt statue adds value to the game and makes this edition more appealing than other Disney games in our opinion. Some of the properties are from Disney World in Florida and others from Disneyland in California. We noticed the game does not have a youthful focus that Disney games usually have. The back of the real estate cards have a picture of Sorcerer Mickey with the castle and Tink in the background; a modern familiar look.

There are photos on the cards and spaces rather than playful sketches. I am glad the colors are consistent with the traditional Monopoly game because it makes it easier for me compared to other Monopoly editions that have changed the colors. Properties include: Skyway, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Pirates of the Caribbean, Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Muppet Vision 3D, The Great Movie Ride, Hollywood Tower Hotel, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Grizzly River Run, California Screamin’, Toy Story Mania, Test Track, Mission Space, Soarin’, King Arthur Carousel, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, It’s a Small World, Space Mountain, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Disney Bus, Disney Monorail, Disney Boat, Disney Train, Disneyland Fire Department, and Walt Disney World City Hall. The traditional Chance and Community Chest cards are replaced with Happily Ever After and Once Upon a Time cards with Disney related themes such as: This area is being refurbished for your enjoyment; pay $25 for each Toontown house.
